Chung came to the hospital for an abortion after breaking up with her migrating boyfriend, while a high school boy came to visit a dying friend who threw himself off the roof. The two are accidentally trapped in an hospital elevator at their crossroads of life turning decisions. Odd trust between the strangers develops within the cube, they eventually open up to each other on what they could not have told their beloved. The Departure is a story about leaving a relationship, a land, a life, and a maternal body. Does one leave for a place to settle down, or does leaving itself have its own meaning?
